Purchasing Department

The Greene King Purchasing team is responsible for buying goods and services from our suppliers and then managing the supply chains that deliver these to our customers in the pubs and restaurants.

Our objective is to deliver value for money, great service and excellent quality for our internal customers and our end consumers that exceed competitors’ offers.

Our accountability is for product quality, cost prices, supplier service and driving sales and profit.

The team is made up of buyers from many different backgrounds that are specialists in managing their various categories of products. We have a mix of people who have joined from different companies and a healthy number of ‘home grown’ talents.

There are 3 teams within the department

Drinks

• The Drinks Team buys all of our lager, beer and cider from national and international brewers, wines and spirits direct from vineyards and brand owners, coffee and soft drinks ranges and even works with the brewing team on the ingredients for our ales.
• The Food Team buys the ingredients that make up the various food menus across our managed pubs from over 100 food suppliers.
• They work very closely with the development Chefs and Marketing Teams to create the best possible menus
• This team also manages the c.2000 deliveries of food to our pubs each week!

Food

• The food team buys from over 100 food suppliers the ingredients that make up the various food menus across our managed pubs.
• They work very closely with the development chefs and marketing teams to create the best possible menus
• This team also manages the C.2000 deliveries of food to our pubs each week!

Services

• This team manages a huge portfolio of goods and services ranging from paper napkins to company cars!
• Essential site services that keep our pubs running smoothly are managed here.
• We buy the energy for Greene King PLC here – utility bills that would make your eyes water!
• Our Machines Department operates and manages the amusement machines available in most of our pubs.
